Snack boxes for funeral services and evening chanting
IllustrationA funeral asks the host family to make many decisions in a short time. Snacks for guests tend to come last on the list, but on the day they still have to be in place. Funeral snack boxes let you hand something to each guest without setting up a food table or having anyone serve. This page explains how many boxes to order, which set to choose, and what to tell the team.
What are funeral snack boxes, and when are they used?
A funeral snack box is a boxed set of pastries for one person, handed to guests who attend the ceremony, such as the evening chanting service, the cremation, or merit-making after the funeral. It is quick to hand out, stacks easily, and avoids any commotion in the hall. Our pastries are baked fresh for each order, every pastry is in its own clear sachet, and each box has tissue.
Host families usually hand boxes out at two points. The first is when guests arrive before the chanting begins. The second is after the ceremony, as guests leave. Some families hand out only as guests leave, so there is no rustling during the ceremony. Either works, as long as you tell the team clearly when you want the boxes to arrive.
People call these by several names: funeral snacks, funeral break snacks, refreshments for chanting services, or snack sets for funeral guests. They all mean the same thing, a separate boxed set for each guest.
Which set should I choose for funeral guests, and what does it cost?
BreakHub has three sets, at ฿42 to ฿85 per box. Host families whose guests mostly stop by briefly often start with the small set of one pastry and drinking water, since guests do not sit and eat for long.
| Set | Price per box | In the box | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Value Set | ฿42 | 1 pastry + 100 ml drinking water | Large numbers of guests who stay briefly |
| Recommend Set | ฿70 | 2 premium pastries (no drink) | Water is already set out in the hall |
| Best Seller Set | ฿85 | 2 premium pastries + 180 ml orange juice drink | Close relatives, guests helping for long hours, or older guests the family wants to look after |
The prices above do not include delivery, which is priced by real distance and quoted before you confirm the order. Pastries can be mixed from the menu, up to 20 pieces of each kind per order, and the team confirms the menu with you before preparing. If you want to swap the drink in the box, ask the team when you order.

How many boxes should I order for an evening chanting service?
Start from the number of guests you expect on the busiest night, then add roughly 10 to 15 percent. Funerals rarely have a guest list in advance, and people often stop by without telling anyone. That buffer is a planning guide, not a fixed formula.
Take a three-night chanting service. The first and last nights usually draw more people than a midweek night. The table below is worked from the Value Set price of ฿42.
| Night | Expected guests | Order with buffer | Set | Total before delivery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Night 1 | 70 guests | 80 boxes | Value Set ฿42 | ฿3,360 |
| Night 2 | 50 guests | 60 boxes | Value Set ฿42 | ฿2,520 |
| Night 3 | 90 guests | 100 boxes | Value Set ฿42 | ฿4,200 |
Across the three nights that is 240 boxes and ฿10,080 before delivery. If you want 20 boxes for close relatives to be Best Seller Set at ฿85, that is 20 x ฿85 = ฿1,700, plus the other 220 boxes as Value Set at 220 x ฿42 = ฿9,240, for ฿10,940 before delivery.
The minimum of 50 boxes applies per order. If your ceremony is smaller than that, for example a family service with 30 guests, message the team first and do not order extra just to reach the minimum. Ordering separately for each night keeps the pastries fresh and means you do not have to find storage. If the hall has a fridge or a suitable place to keep boxes, you can order two nights in one delivery, so ask the team which suits the pastries you choose. How do I time delivery to the ceremony, and what do I tell the team?
Tell the team the date, the time the boxes should arrive, the venue and the name of an on-site contact. Delivery should arrive at least half an hour before handout so there is time to set out the boxes without rushing. Prepare these details before you message on LINE or fill in the form.
- The date and time the boxes must arrive, for example Friday evening before 18:30 if the ceremony starts at 19:00.
- The name of the temple or venue, the hall used, and where a vehicle can get close to drop off.
- The box count for each round and the set you want.
- A phone number for the family coordinator whom the delivery team can call on arrival.
- Any known dietary restrictions among guests, such as people who are allergic to certain foods.
Order at least 2 days ahead. Funeral dates are often set at short notice, though, so if you have less time, message the team to ask whether it can be done. There are rush options with a limited menu: order before 10:00 for 17:00 the same day, or receive within 4 hours of confirmation. The team cannot promise anything until they have checked the queue and menu. Details are on the rush order page. Payment is in full before delivery day, and reducing the box count needs 48 hours notice.

How do I choose funeral snacks that feel respectful?
Choose a simple box that can be eaten without noise or many crumbs. The host family does not need anything special, only something tidy and modest. These are the questions families often ask while choosing.
- Easy, clean pastries: items such as Plain Croissant, Fresh Butter Bun or a small cake suit guests who eat standing or while waiting.
- Older guests: choose a set with water in the box so they do not have to look for a drink, such as Value Set or Best Seller Set.
- Children who come with families: the small set can be shared and leaves little waste.
- People helping through the night: a more filling set suits them, such as Recommend Set or Best Seller Set.
Our boxes are white with the BreakHub logo. We do not offer printing of names or logos, or boxes designed for a specific event. If your family has a specific request, ask the team when you order whether it can be done.
How do snacks for a cremation or post-ceremony merit-making differ from the chanting nights?
A cremation brings guests together over a short period and the handout window is often tight, so it works best to have boxes delivered before the ceremony and stacked in groups near the hall exit. During chanting nights, guests tend to arrive throughout the evening and boxes are handed out one by one.
- Guest numbers: the cremation day often draws more guests than a chanting night, so allow a larger buffer.
- Hot weather: for outdoor ceremonies or hot temple grounds, choose a set with drinking water in the box.
- A meal afterwards: if food is served after the ceremony, a small set such as Value Set is enough for the waiting period.
- Food offerings to monks: this needs to be arranged with the temple and the family, and it is not a service we provide.
If your event has more than one handout in a day, give the time of each round, for example 10:00 and 14:00. The team tells you whether delivery will be one drop or split into rounds, and what the fee is. For merit-making after the ceremony, see snack boxes for merit-making.
How do I order funeral snack boxes?
Ordering takes four steps and does not take long. A relative who handles this can send the details on behalf of the host family.
- Choose a set, or give the team your budget and ask for a suggestion.
- Send box count, date, time, venue and event type on LINE or through the quote form.
- The team confirms the menu, delivery fee and total.
- You confirm and pay, and the team prepares the order for the agreed time.
The order button on the set pages copies your details into LINE so you do not have to retype everything. To compare prices first, see the snack box overview or ask through the contact page. Documents available on request are a quotation, an invoice and a receipt. Photos on the website are illustrations, and the actual pastries vary by round, with the team confirming the menu before preparing your order.
What to know before ordering
- Minimum 50 boxes: per order, and below that we do not accept the order. If you expect fewer guests, message the team first.
- 2 days ahead: the rush options use a limited menu and need a queue check, and the team promises nothing in advance.
- Delivery time: we do not guarantee arrival to the minute, so ask for delivery at least half an hour before handout.
- Delivery area: Bangkok and surrounding provinces, confirmed per address, with the fee priced by real distance.
- Allergies: we do not guarantee that pastries are free of allergens. Tell the team before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum for funeral snack boxes?
The minimum is 50 boxes per order. You can mix sets, for example mostly Value Set with Best Seller Set for close relatives. Tell the team the count for each set when you order and they will total it. If you expect fewer than 50 guests, message the team first.
How far ahead should I order for an evening chanting service?
At least 2 days, so the team can confirm the menu and schedule the order. If the funeral date is set at short notice, message the team to ask about the rush options, which use a limited menu. The team says whether it can be done but promises nothing before checking the queue.
What kind of snacks suit funeral guests?
There is no fixed rule. Most families choose pastries that are easy to eat and not messy, with drinking water, such as Value Set or Best Seller Set. Pastries can be mixed from each set's menu, and the team confirms the menu with you before preparing the order.
How is delivery to a temple priced?
Delivery is separate from the box price and priced by real distance. The team quotes it once they have the address and time, before you confirm the order. Our delivery area is Bangkok and the surrounding provinces, confirmed per address.
Can I order separately for several nights of chanting?
Yes. Give the date, time and box count for each round in one message and the team tells you whether boxes will be delivered per round or together, with a confirmed delivery fee. Each round must reach the 50 box minimum. Separate rounds often keep the pastries fresher.
Can names or logos be printed on funeral boxes?
No. We do not offer printing of names or customer logos on boxes. The boxes are white with the BreakHub logo. If you have another specific request, ask the team when you order whether it can be done.
Do you have snacks for guests with allergies?
We do not guarantee that pastries are free of allergens. If a guest has an allergy to certain foods, tell the team before ordering so they can look at menu items that avoid it, and ask the guest to read the ingredients before eating.
