Vegetarian and Jay Snack Boxes: What to Check Before You Order
IllustrationPeople who search for a vegetarian snack box are usually planning an event where some or all of the guests eat vegetarian. In Thailand that often means jay food, the strict vegetarian diet followed during the Thai vegetarian festival, at merit-making events, or by individual staff who avoid meat. The honest answer comes first: BreakHub does not yet have a standard jay or vegan set that we have confirmed, and we do not certify that any of our pastries are jay. This page explains what to check, how to ask the team, and what realistic options exist in the meantime.
Is there a vegetarian or vegan snack box?
There is no set that we have confirmed as vegetarian or jay. All three of our sets are bakery and baked pastries chosen from our menus. Ordinary baked goods often contain eggs, milk or butter, so they cannot automatically be called jay or vegan.
We do not claim that any product is jay, vegetarian or vegan unless we have ingredient and production information that can be checked. If the team can confirm something for a particular round, they will give you the details in writing on LINE before you decide to order.
| Topic | Status |
|---|---|
| A jay snack box set with a fixed price | Not on the standard list |
| Certification that something is jay, vegetarian or vegan | Not given, unless the team confirms it order by order |
| Mixing regular sets with something for vegetarian guests | Ask the team first; it depends on whether that round has anything they can confirm |
| Minimum order | 50 boxes |
Why can't ordinary baked goods simply be called jay?
Most baked goods are made with eggs, milk or butter as main ingredients. The croissants, fresh butter buns, custard buns and cakes on our menu all need checking first. Pastries filled with pork floss, chicken or ham and cheese are obviously meat. A vegetarian guest therefore cannot just pick from the menu list, and the team has to check each item.
One more point is easy to miss. "No meat" and "jay" do not mean the same thing. Many people on the jay diet also avoid strong-smelling vegetables and dairy, while some vegetarians accept eggs or milk. If you do not ask your guests first, you can end up with pastries that contain no meat and still do not match what the guests eat.
What to check before ordering vegetarian snacks
There are three things to check: the ingredients of the pastry, how it is produced and stored, and what your vegetarian guests actually need. People follow the diet differently. Some avoid only meat, while others also avoid eggs, milk or strong-smelling vegetables such as garlic and onion.
- Ask your guests first what they avoid. Do not guess from the word jay alone.
- Ask the team whether each pastry contains egg, milk, butter, gelatin or any other animal ingredient.
- Ask whether the pastry is prepared or kept in the same space or container as items containing meat, because that matters to strict followers.
- Ask for the answer as a written message on LINE, not just a verbal reply, so you can pass it on to your guests.
We would stress that the team can only answer what can be checked. If something cannot be verified, they will say so rather than guess.

What should you send the team when you have vegetarian guests?
Send the full picture in your first message, and the team can answer faster without asking again. The example below works on LINE and on the quotation form.
| Information | Example |
|---|---|
| Number of vegetarian guests | 12 out of 60 people |
| Known restrictions | No meat, eggs, milk or strong-smelling vegetables |
| Date and time you need the order | Morning at 9:30, ahead of a 10:00 break |
| Delivery location | Building name, floor and contact person |
| Budget per person | The price your approver has set |
Before you message us, have a look at the price overview on the snack box price page, so your budget is close to prices that actually exist.
If there is no standard jay set, what are the options?
A workable approach is to order the regular sets for most guests and prepare something separately for your vegetarian guests yourself, or ask the team whether a particular round has anything they can confirm. We do not offer anything we have not checked.
- Order Recommend Set or Best Seller Set for general guests, and arrange cut fruit or jay snacks from a shop you trust for the vegetarian guests
- Ask the team to check whether any pastry in that round has an ingredient list they can confirm, so it can go into some of the boxes
- If vegetarian guests are the majority, tell the team before you plan the budget so you know early which options are possible
- Leave time for confirmation, and do not wait until the last minute before the event
As an example of splitting boxes: an event for 80 people with 12 vegetarian guests. Order 68 regular boxes, which clears the 50-box minimum. With Recommend Set that is 68 x 70 = 4,760 baht before delivery. For the other 12 guests we have to wait until the team confirms whether an option exists, so we do not put a price on it.

How do BreakHub's regular sets compare for most of your guests?
Every set has a confirmed price and contents, but none of them was designed for vegetarian guests. This table is only for planning the budget of the general group.
| Set | Price per box | In the box |
|---|---|---|
| Value Set | 42 | 1 classic pastry + cup of drinking water |
| Recommend Set | 70 | 2 premium pastries |
| Best Seller Set | 85 | 2 premium pastries + 180 ml orange juice drink |
For details of each set, see Value Set and Best Seller Set. Use the snack box budget calculator to try mixed quantities. If your event has several kinds of dietary restriction, use the allergy checklist to collect everything for the team in one message.
How far ahead should you order when guests are vegetarian?
An order with dietary restrictions takes longer to confirm than a normal one. Message us at least 5 to 7 days before the event, even though the minimum lead time for a regular order is 2 days, so there is time to answer questions about ingredients.
- Send the headcount, restrictions, date, time and location on LINE or the form
- The team tells you honestly what they can and cannot confirm for that round
- Agree the menu, delivery fee and total in writing
- You confirm, and only then do we start preparing the order
The minimum is 50 boxes, and you can mix sets in one order. The delivery fee is not in the box price and is charged by real distance. We deliver in Bangkok and the surrounding provinces, checked address by address. Rush orders have a limited menu, so ask about the queue first; we do not guarantee them. Organisations can ask for a quotation, while invoices and receipts are confirmed with the team order by order. See the overview on the snack box page, and for merit-making events see snack boxes for merit-making ceremonies.
What to know before ordering
This page starts with what BreakHub cannot confirm, so that you do not plan an event on information that is not true.
- There is no standard jay set. All three sets are bakery and baked pastries. We do not label any of them as jay, vegetarian or vegan, and we have no certification to point to.
- Cross-contact is not guaranteed. If a guest is very strict, get the team's answer on preparation and storage in writing and decide for yourself.
- The minimum is 50 boxes per order. If only a few guests are vegetarian, you still order the regular sets to reach the minimum and arrange separate food for that group yourself.
- Reducing the count needs 48 hours' notice, and payment is 100% before delivery day, so confirm the number of vegetarian guests before the order is closed.
- Delivery is extra and charged by real distance. We deliver in Bangkok and the surrounding provinces, checked address by address.
Read next: the allergy checklist before ordering a snack box. It applies to any dietary restriction, not only jay.
Summary
BreakHub does not currently have a confirmed jay snack box and does not certify that any set is jay or vegan. The regular sets start at ฿42 per box with a 50-box minimum and a 2-day lead time, and you should message the team 5 to 7 days ahead if guests are vegetarian. The team answers only what can be verified and will say so when something cannot be.
Send the headcount, restrictions and date through the quotation form, or press the LINE order button on a set page.
Frequently asked questions
Does BreakHub have a vegetarian snack box?
Not at the moment. There is no jay or vegetarian set that we have confirmed as standard, and we do not certify that any set is jay. If your event has vegetarian guests, message us on LINE with the headcount and restrictions before ordering, and the team will tell you honestly whether that round can do it.
Can I order a vegan or vegetarian snack box?
We have not confirmed a vegan or vegetarian set, because ordinary baked pastries often contain eggs, milk or butter. If you need one, ask the team before ordering and request a written confirmation.
How much is a jay snack box?
There is no stated price for a jay set. The regular sets start at 42 baht per box. If the team can confirm a vegetarian option, they will give you the price and terms before you decide.
Is there a vegetarian break snack that avoids cross-contact?
We cannot confirm protection against cross-contact on this page. If your guests are strict, ask the team about preparation and storage, and decide based on the written answer you receive.
Can I mix a vegetarian option with regular sets in one order?
Regular sets can be mixed in one order. For vegetarian guests, ask the team first whether that round has an option they can confirm, then plan the box counts.
How far ahead should I tell you if there are vegetarian guests?
The minimum for a regular order is 2 days, but with dietary restrictions we suggest messaging us 5 to 7 days before the event, so there is time to confirm ingredients.
What is the minimum order?
The minimum is 50 boxes. You can mix several sets in one order if you tell the team when you order. Prices exclude delivery.
Can I get a quotation?
Yes, through the quotation form on the website. Invoices and receipts can also be requested through the team, and other organisation-specific paperwork is confirmed order by order.
